Lights Out by Navessa Allen

First things first—pay attention to the trigger warnings on page one. They’re there for a reason, and they matter.

I'll be honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through the first few chapters. The subject matter hits hard, and it’s heavy. But once you get past that initial emotional weight and begin to understand why things are the way they are, the story starts to unfold in a way that draws you in deeper.
What really hooked me was the banter. The back-and-forth teasing, the unrelenting stubbornness on both sides—it’s like emotional whiplash in the best way. You root for both characters, even when they’re driving each other (and you) a little crazy. And when that tension finally breaks and gives way to love? It’s earned. It’s real. It’s everything.

Also, do not skip the epilogue. It gives you just that little bit more your heart needs after the journey these two go through.
Navessa Allen delivered something raw, beautiful, and ultimately healing. It’s not an easy read, but it’s a powerful one.
