Empyrean Series
Fourth Wing
Violet Sorrengail, a fragile but determined young woman forced into the elite ranks of dragon riders by her commanding mother. As she navigates the deadly trials, political betrayals, and intense rivalries, she must prove she’s stronger than everyone assumes—especially to the brooding and dangerous Xaden Riorson.
I was hesitant to start this book, but everyone kept raving about it. I finally dug in and WOWza—it instantly became one of my favorites. The family dynamic with Violet keeps you on high alert, adding tension beyond the battlefield. And Xaden? Shadow Daddy...enough said. I was worried the fantasy elements would throw me off, but Rebecca Yarros blends the people and dragons so seamlessly that it just works. The military vibes are strong, but the weapons? Even more exciting.
Iron Flame
Throwing Violet Sorrengail back into the brutal world of Basgiath War College. The stakes rise and secrets unravel, Violet faces even greater challenges—both on the battlefield and in matters of the heart. With new enemies, shocking betrayals, and a villain making an unexpected return, survival becomes more treacherous than ever.
While I really enjoyed the book, I definitely missed the banter between Violet and Xaden. There are plenty of lovers’ quarrels throughout, but what really stood out was seeing a man stick with his person through thick and thin—it’s messy, complicated, and worth it.
Onyx Storm
Continuing the heart-pounding journey of Violet, pushing her deeper into the dangerous world of dragon riders, shifting alliances, and unraveling mysteries. With new territories to explore, unexpected powers emerging, and a quest that could change everything, Violet and her squad must navigate treacherous terrain—both physically and emotionally—while the looming threat of war grows ever closer.
This book leaves you with the worst book hangover ever! While some people didn’t seem to love this one, I absolutely did. I loved exploring new parts of the map, following the quest squad, and discovering fresh and exciting signets. But the real question on everyone’s mind—where is Broccoli?! The theories swarming my brain are far and wide as we all try (and fail) to patiently wait for book 4.
